Inktober 2019

[I have to preface this by saying that I’m typing all this with a giant bandage on my finger because I got stitches. LONG STORY. So forgive me for any stupid typos]

To me, nothing beats being able to communicate through art. It was always acting and writing that reached me on a different level. It let me vent in ways I can’t normally. It’s almost like a soul cleansing experience. For others, their art is drawing or painting. I’ve never been great at either of those things, but I have a couple of people around me who are amazing artists and it’s an honor to see their work on my social media feeds.

For the month of October, I’m extremely lucky that a lot of artists I follow are participating in something called Inktober. Inktober is where artists of all different levels and types of drawing or painting create based on one word prompts decided by the Inktober Instagram. This years prompts are going to be interesting.

I’m so excited to announce that I will be working with one of my good friends all the way back from high school, Rhett Backstrom (his Twitter and Instagram), to do our own version of Inktober where he will do the drawing and I will follow up with a short story. I’ve watched his art grow and evolve into something really amazing and I’m excited to see what else he comes out with that I will be able to write about. I’m writing this on October 5th and I’m late (as usual) so I will be playing catch up to what he’s already illustrated.
